About renew existing LEI
Do you have an LEI managed at Insee (LEI-France) or do you have an LEI with another operator and you want to renew it with LEI-France? Heres what you need to know:
The validity period of an LEI identifier after certification is one year.
An LEI must therefore be renewed every year to be valid, the renewal can be done as early as 6 weeks before its expiry date .
Any LEI, whatever its origin or the operator where it is managed can be renewed at INSEE.
One step to renew your LEIs
You inform or update the financial relations of your entity before paying for the renewal of your LEI by credit card or transfer.
This information is legally required by Gleif and is essential for the validity of your LEI. A simple questionnaire will guide you step by step. We will then help you verify the accuracy of your financial relationships to ensure the validity of your LEI.
If you cannot provide information on your financial relationships, you can also choose an exception from the reasons for deviation authorized by GLEIF (See FAQ : the company no has no parent).
As soon as the financial relations are completed, you can proceed to payment and renew your LEI.
Following a payment by card, an invoice specifying the new validity dates of your LEI is sent to you by email the same evening while your LEI is renewed on the Gleif site during its daily update the next day.
Payment by bank transfer will take a few days.
Manage and renew your LEI at Insee
You have an LEI managed at Insee (LEI-France)
To renew your LEI, log into your secure personal space or, if you are the new manager of an LEI managed at Insee and do not yet have an account, create your personal space .
You have an LEI managed by another operator or you have applied for an multi annual LEI with another operator and you now wish to manage and renew your LEI at Insee
Our renewal rate for an LEI is 50 € . This rate is net of tax, unlike the LEI rates commonly displayed on the internet, and is among the cheapest on the market .
Note that if you have applied for a multi-annual LEI with another operator, you are in no way committed and that you can at any time request a transfer to INSEE
In accordance with the respect of European regulations against anti-competitive practices and Gleif arbitrations, any operator will indeed have to reimburse you for your non-started annuities and cannot oppose a transfer to Insee. This transfer does not affect the validity period of your LEI in any way.
When and how do I renew my LEI?
The renewal of an LEI is accessible in the section Renew a LEI from 6 weeks before its expiry date. After this date your LEI status will change to expired (LAPSED) and it will no longer be usable. When you renew it, your LEI is certified again for a period of 1 year from its last expiration date or from the date of the application if the expiration date has already passed.
LEI renewal and transfer
The LEI must be renewed annually to maintain its validity with Gleif. This renewal also makes it possible to verify and correct, if necessary, the declaration of the financial relations of the entity. Indeed, Gleif regulations require that the data relating to your entity be updated at least once a year.
Once an LEI is assigned to an entity, it remains attached to it as a unique and definitive identifier. You can then no longer request a new LEI for your entity.
You can, however, request a transfer of your LEI at any time and entrust the management of your LEI to another operator. This transfer does not affect the validity period of your LEI in any way, but allows you to request renewal with the new operator.
How to request the transfer of the management of my LEI to Insee?
You can request free transfer from your LEI to Insee; it will remain unchanged.
For this, it is necessary to send us a transfer request form completed with your information (one version in French and one in English) that we will send to the operator currently managing your LEI.
You must also send us by email, firstname.lastname@example.org, a mandate authorizing you to request an LEI on behalf of your company and affix the stamp of your company or the signature of an officer mentioned in the Kbis (also attach a Kbis of less than 3 months).
You will also need to create a personal space on our website (section Create a personal space) in which you can view your LEI after sending us the mandate.
Note: if the holder of the personal space is listed in the companys Kbis, it is not necessary to send us a mandate, a Kbis of less than 3 months is sufficient.
